The LEC ladies’ netball team is on a winning streak, having recaptured their SOS Charity Games netball title with a thrilling 19-11 victory in the final against the courageous Metropolitan Lesotho side. This marked the latter’s second appearance in the gold-medal match.
The SOS Children’s Village hosted the Charity Games Tournament in 2023, held on the 2nd – 3rd and 09th to 10th of September. The event saw participation from 28 teams across seven sporting codes, including Soccer, Volleyball, Netball, Pool, Table Tennis, and Darts.
The primary objective of this competition is to raise funds for the orphanage, which currently cares for nearly 1,400 children, some of whom are orphans, while others have been abandoned by their parents. This annual tournament is open to both companies and individuals, allowing them to register teams.
In addition to the evident element of fun, these games contribute to the development of unity and team spirit among employees, a factor critical to the success of any company, as the old adage suggests, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
